One of the many remarkable things about Yogi Bhajan was his ability to be with any person of any status and to serve them in love. It was important to him (and what he taught us) to be respectful with each person. In other words, to respect who they were. This includes respecting who they are not. You will never be happy wanting one person to be like another.
If you can come to peace with this point, then you come another step closer to being a truly loving person. The problem is, love takes a combination of courage, foolishness, acceptance, and desire.
