16 Nov, 2019. went to look at a house in near to Schriesheim, It was a last minute decision so my car was already partially loaded for my trip the next day to my L2 teacher training. I had decided to give a human sized sculpture to my assistant for her new house. It was a special piece of art that I got from a dear friend, Bramasore Sidhame, who I met at the Heiddelberg Christmas Market. He is a third generation artist and musician. Even though he did not speak English, and I did not speak German or French, the language from his native Guinie, we managed to communicate. He quickly began calling me his brother, and it felt like we were brothers. In 2015 I got interested in one sculpture at this stand at the market. He explained it was something his grandfather had carved. It was a special figure to invoke the spirits of birth, as in the birth of a child, or the birth of a new endeavor. As my partner and I were making our first move together to a new town, it felt like an appropriate image to feature in our new home. It has sat in our living room for these last four years, until yesterday when i loaded it into my car and just happen to drive with it to see this potentially new house.
While looking at the house, there was another couple also looking. Amanjot turned to me and said she thought she knew that person from the Christmas market in Heidelberg, and that we met her at the stand from Bramasore. I walked up to her and asked, and it was the same women we meet four years ago, at the stand from Bramasore, the same stand where I had just purchased that large figure, which was at that moment, in my car. This was the only time this figure has ever been in my car since it was delivered by Bramasore.
Coincidence is a remarkable thing. Most people get pretty excited by such unusual construction of events, people and places. I do appreciate these things, but see them more as the expression of a loving God or Spirit, that likes to keep life interesting, unpredictable and fun.
